Data and Voice Technician Apprentice
April 2010 to August 2014

My key responsibilities for this role were:

  • New service installation to expand and enhance the existing data networks across 60 Brisbane City Council sites

  • Providing quotes to install new services and projects

  • Design and install new data cables, data cabinets, and equipment

  • Engage and manage external contractors to carry out works

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure services are installed with minimal downtime for the network 

  • Identify, diagnose and rectify faults within a complex data network infrastructure.

  • Work with the Information Services Branch to configure new network requirements.

  • Lead the data networks team after my leading hand left the organization at the end of my first year of the apprenticeship.

  • Coached new staff and tradesmen on BCC processes for fault finding and installation practices.

  • Rapidly moved into a management role after starting as a tradesman.

Brisbane City Council (Waste Services)

My key responsibilities for this role were:

  • Secondment for 1 year to assist the project manager in waste transfer station windows 10 upgrade

  • Consultation on cabling requirements for recycling center buildings

  • Reporting using Microsoft Word, Excel and Crystal Reports

  • Testing new weight capture system

Optus
Junior Technical Services Manager
Client: Brisbane City Council
October 2015 – October 2017

My key responsibilities for this role were:

  • Contracted to plan and execute National Broadband Network migration for Brisbane City Council properties and audit existing telephony network to reduce costs for ratepayers.

  • Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure NBN rollout was executed efficiently with minimal downtime. 

  • Collaborate with Information Services Branch to configure new network requirements. 

  • Create schedules for contractors and internal stakeholders to follow.

  • Audit existing telephony network to identify services no longer in use.

  • Assist in high-level fault requests to find solutions 

  • Created $1,250,000 of extra revenue for Brisbane City Council over a 5-year period from the results of the telephony auditing process.

  • Successfully migrated 16 sites from the Telstra copper network to the new National Broadband Network with zero downtime for each site.

  • Collated 2,000 business assets to ensure maintenance contracts were carried out for replacements.

My key responsibilities for this role were:

  • Contractor role for the purpose of creating multiple sales processes in such areas as Education and Social Media Marketing.

  • Established key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Consistently achieved daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs.

  • Coached new team members on pre and post-sales processes.

  • Assist the Divisional Sales Manager with streamlining processes.

  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure business revenue projections are met.

  • Build key relationships with assessors to ensure compliance with all work.

  • Created a sales process that generated revenue of $36,000 per month.

My key responsibilities for this role were:

  • Created $40,000 worth of contracts in 2 months for the client
